An all day event featuring artistic, clinical, historical and educational encounters with analytical psychology and the work of Carl Jung. Colorful content includes - artist, educator and analyst in training Justin Hamacher with his autoethnographic arts-based research project The Visual Jung: An Artist’s Journey Through Jungian Training (winner of the 2024 Kristine Mann Library Research Award), Hilary Morgan presenting on her grandmother Christiana Morgan’s ‘Tower on the Marsh’ (inspired by Jung’s tower at Bollingen), Ilona Melker sharing from her experiences as an analyst and art therapist, and

The C.G. Jung Institute Zurich and its picture archive are proud to present 'The Visual Jung: An Artist's Journey Through Jungian Training’, a solo exhibition by artist and analyst in training Justin Hamacher.

Featuring twenty selected works, the show chronicles a decade of analytical training through imagistic notes drawn in real time during lectures in Boston and Zurich. By capturing complex psychological concepts, myths, and archetypes as spontaneous ink illustrations, the illustrated notes bridge the conscious and unconscious psyche. The immersive exhibition offers a deeply embodied, visually driven exploration of training in analytical psychology, transforming abstract Jungian theory into expressive artistic metaphor and dynamic, living visual imaginations.

Very excited to share that I’ll be teaching at Pacifica this Winter, in the M.A. in Depth Psychology and Creativity with Emphasis in the Arts and Humanities program. It is an engaging course exploring creative embodiment and living application of Jungian concepts. This is a main area of my work, and I am really honored to have been asked to co-explore with the students…

In this online studio course we will explore internal and external psychological landscapes through the lens of animal archetypes. Across times and cultures archetypal animal images have played a healing role in communities, through individual activity and community shamanistic work. There’s a deep relationship between Jungian work and some of these ancient earth connecting practices our ancestors used–tools we may also be able to access. In our course together we will hone a method for engaging with the archetype of animals to form a better relationship with them, the natural world and with ourselves.

I'm happy to share that I’ve been appointed an educational advisor to the Kristine Mann Library (C.G. Jung Institute of New York). I'll consult and advise with the library on the current state of Jungian studies, pedagogy, curriculum, creating dynamic learning experiences, visual thinking and bridging the gap between theory and application.

I’m beginning research on the second part of my book The Visual Jung: The Artist’s Journey Through Jungian Training and will be in New York City the last week of May interviewing folks at the Kristine Mann Library / C.G. Jung Institute of New York in Midtown Manhattan.

This fall I did a fun (and presumably engaging) podcast around visual thinking, my life path as an artist (and those challenges), punk rock, my time as a professor and how I have leveraged visual thinking as part of my 8 years training as a Jungian analyst...

Delivered a seminar with example techniques on modern dream interpretation to the Pinterest employee wellness group, Pinside Out.

I am grateful to have been awarded a scholarship to support studies at the C.G. Jung Institute-Zurich by the C.G. Jung Foundation Zurich.

Our project ‘Art in a Time of Global Crisis: Interconnection and Companionship’ was a digital space where people could share images, connect and reflect together around a daily image at the onset of the pandemic in early 2020.

We will present a panel discussion with local speakers that explores the psychological impact of technology on cultural, social, political, and interpersonal dimensions.
